Richmond, Indiana is a small city with 46,875 people. It has 7 nursing homes, which is a reasonable number for a city of this size. These facilities were awarded on average an overall grade of C. This isn't a terrible grade, but it is not quite as strong of a grade as we like to see either. For comparison's sake, we also looked at the facilities in the nearby city of Troy. While we aren't raving about either city, we found the nursing homes in Richmond to be slightly better. One of the major highlights of this city's report card is its exemplary inspection reports, which you can find in the following section.

While its overall grade was fairly ordinary, we awarded Richmond an A for our inspections rating. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing these inspection scores. One of those factors is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some of these can be quite insignificant. The next best score we gave this city in any category was its short-term care score, where we awarded it a B-. In the other categories we looked at, Richmond earned grades of C and D for our long-term care and nursing categories respectively. Although we found the rest of its profile to be decent, this nursing score is not a good sign for nursing staffing levels.
