Registered Staff Hours
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of C. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing our inspection grades. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some of these can be relatively insignificant. This nursing home had 9 deficiencies on its government inspection report, but none were category J through L deficiencies. This means inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies to put resident health or safety in immediate harm or jeopardy. Another red flag is that CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.
Short-term Care Quality
Unfortunately, this facility received an F for its short-term care grade. Short-term care scores are based in part on the facility's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This includes a broad spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, in addition to other variations of therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides substantially less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than a typical facility. The last area we considered in this category is the percentage of residents who returned home from the nursing home. We found that it performed better in this area, with 53.8 percent of its patients returning home. This was just about this nursing home's only redeeming quality in this category.

Long-term Care Quality
Another unfortunate development was the F this facility was given in the category of long-term care. For residents seeking a permanent place to live as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care grades are an important measure. Once we assessed the amount of nursing care, we turned to the facility's vaccination records. We were optimistic to discover that this nursing home vaccinated 97.111916 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Finally, we looked at its number of hospitalizations. We found that this nursing home fared much worse with 2.77 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Unfortunately, this statistic is nearly twice the national average.
Switching gears to the fourth area, this facility really didn't fare well in this area either. Due to an abysmal grade of F in nursing, this is really as bad as it gets. In determining our nursing grades, we analyze both nursing hours and the levels of licensure of those nurses. This particular nursing home offered just 3.1 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This figure is significantly below average. This nursing home also had abysmal marks in some of the quality-based measures to pair with its weak nursing hours. We looked at the percentage of patients suffering pressure ulcers and we were disappointed. This place was at approximately 1.5 times the national average in this metric.
