This city received a strong overall grade, but we also wanted to point out that some of the city's nursing homes received almost perfect health inspections in recent years. We gave Punta Gorda an impressive grade of A+ for this area. Perhaps the most critical factor we look at in calculating our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities with higher grades in this category most likely dodged the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. Punta Gorda performed spectacularly well in terms of its short-term care grade as well. Consequently, the city received a grade of A in that area. Wrapping up its straight A profile, we gave the city an A- for its nursing rating and an A- in long-term care.
