In fact, some of the nursing homes in the city received almost perfect inspection reports this year. Consequently, the city received one of our best ratings in that category with an A. Arguably the most critical factor we consider in determining our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Places with better grades in this area typically avoided the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. In addition, we also wanted to point out that we gave Port Charlotte an A- in our long-term care rating. Rounding out its impressive profile, this place earned a B+ for nursing and a B+ in short-term care. We truly found this place to be competent in every category.
