Facility Inspections

Grade: A

On top of receiving a strong overall score, this nursing home also received first-rate health inspections in recent years. We awarded them one of our better scores in this category, with an A. Perhaps the most significant factor we look at in determining our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Facilities with better scores in this category most likely dodged the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.

Major falls can typically be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

Moving on to our final area, this nursing home was given a decent long-term care grade of B-. In crafting our long-term care grades, we look at the nursing home's ability to maintain its permanent residents' health and quality of life. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Fortunately, this facility gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients, which is a very solid total. This nursing home keeps its patients out of the hospital.
