With just two nursing homes in the city, there are only a couple of choices in Glen Rose, Texas. We awarded the nursing homes here city grade of C, which isn't as high of a score as we like. This score unfortunately ended up on the wrong side of the national average. The best part of this place's report card is its nursing homes' stellar inspection reports. Inspection grades are discussed in the following section.
While its overall rating was somewhat average, the nursing homes in Glen Rose performed remarkably well in our inspection category. In fact, we awarded the city an A for that category, which is one of our best scores. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing our inspection scores. One critical factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are relatively minor. Glen Rose's second best grade was in our long-term care category, where it earned a grade of C. In the other categories we looked at, we awarded the city grades of C and F for our short-term care and nursing categories respectively. Despite an otherwise decent profile, a nursing rating this poor may be an ominous sign for levels of nurse staffing.
