Facility Inspections

Grade: A

On top of earning a great overall rating, this nursing home performed even better in the area of inspections which is based on the facility's recent inspections. We gave it an A for this area, which is one of our highest scores. Perhaps the most important factor we look at in determining our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Places with better grades in this category most likely dodged the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. While this place had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G through L. This tells you that the inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Keep in mind that deficiency-free inspections are uncommon in this industry.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Another strong feature for this nursing home is that it received an above average short-term care grade. Indeed, this turned out to be its second best category grade. In that category, we awarded this nursing home a B. In the area of short-term care, we seek to assess indicators of a facility's rehabilitation. We look at the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5.3 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

This facility's next best category grade came in the area of nursing. In that category, we gave this nursing home a grade of B-. This wasn't quite on par with some of its other category grades mentioned above. There are a host of subcategories within this category. Many of these datapoints are tied to the quantity of nurse staffing. This facility provides only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is a somewhat discouraging figure as it is well below average. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this facility surprisingly excelled in some of the quality measures we assessed. In fact, it scored well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The next area we rated is long-term care. In that category, we gave this nursing home a B-. For long-term care residents, the facility's primary objective is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. After considering the volume of nursing care, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination records. We were pleased to discover that this nursing home vaccinates 100 percent of its patients for pneumonia. This place keeps its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
