Winamac, Indiana offers just two nursing homes to choose from, which is a limited selection. We gave this city a city grade of B for based on the quality of its nursing homes. This is as good or better than the city grade of most of the cities in the United States. This place's impressive report card was highlighted by its nursing homes' inspection ratings, which is addressed in the next paragraph.
In addition to performing well in its overall grade, this city's nursing homes performed remarkably well in terms of its inspection grade. In fact, some of its facilities received almost perfect inspection reports this year. As a result, we awarded Winamac one of our best grades in that area with an A+. Perhaps the most critical factor we look at in determining our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher scores in this category typically dodged the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. Winamac also received strong short-term care grade with a B in this area. In the other categories we looked at, the city received slightly below average grades for our long-term care and nursing categories.
