Centralia, Illinois offers only two nursing homes to choose from, which is not a ton of options. With a city grade of B, this city's nursing homes turned out to be respectable options. In fact, this city's city grade was far better than the city grade of facilities in the nearby city of Carbondale. While the nursing homes in Carbondale are not terrible, we found Centralia to be on a whole other level. Lastly, Centralia has the prestigious distinction of being the thirteenth best city in Illinois according to our rankings.
In addition to receiving a strong overall grade, this city performed spectacularly well in our inspection category. In fact, we awarded its facilities an A+ for this category, which is one of our best scores. Arguably the most critical factor we look at in determining our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes with better scores in this area most likely avoided the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. In addition, the city also earned one of our higher scores in the area of long-term care, with a B+. In the last two categories, Centralia received a B- in our short-term care category and a C in nursing.
