In addition to performing well in its overall grade, many of the facilities in Sumter performed spectacularly well in the area of inspections. In fact, some of its facilities received nearly perfect inspection reports this year. As a result, it received one of our best grades in that category with an A. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing our inspection ratings. One key factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some are quite insignificant. Sumter also earned one of our better scores in our long-term care category, with a B+. Lastly, Sumter earned a B- for short-term care and a grade of C in the area of nursing.
