Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

On top of being a first rate nursing home overall, this facility also performed well in long-term care, where it received an impressive grade of A. Few nursing homes performed better in this category. Facilities that excel in long-term care typically are well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to patients. On top of considering the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 99.7619 percent of its patients. Vaccines are critical to keeping patients healthy. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

Adding to its impressive category scores, this nursing home excelled in the area of inspections, where it received an A-. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. These inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This place was assessed 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered to be severe. This indicates that the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies to pose an imminent risk to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

This facility received a very good nursing grade this year as well. It received one of our better scores in that category with a grade of B+. The nursing rating assesses several subcategories, but the most important one is the number of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality measures and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can generally be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as having a protocol of turning residents more frequently.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

In our last area, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A- for our short-term care grade. This topped off a very favorable profile. In the area of short-term care, we strive to qualify measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We assess a nursing home's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 3.9 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
