In addition to faring well overall, this facility also received nearly flawless government inspections. As a result, it earned one of our best grades in that category with an A+. Inspection grades account for a host of factors included in a facility's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we look at is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with better scores in this area generally have few severe deficiencies. Unfortunately, it does not appear that we have information about this nursing home's deficiencies. We wish we had more information about this nursing home. Without having access to all of the deficiency data, it ended up being challenging to assess it in this area.

Among the reasons we graded this nursing home so well is that it was given a very impressive short-term care score. In fact, short-term care is its second most favorable category score. In that area, we gave this facility a score of A-. Short-term care grades are based on a facility's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This includes a vast range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other types of therapy. One reason for this facility's strong score in this category is that it provides more care with registered nurses to its residents than the average nursing home. Finally, we assessed the percentage of patients that returned home from this nursing home. We found that it fared better than most nursing homes in the nation with 54.2 percent of its patients returning home.

The third area we assessed is long-term care, where this nursing home was given a grade of B- in this category. Our long-term care grade focuses on a facility's personal care rather than the highly skilled nursing or medical services that are critical to a rehabilitation facility. In addition to assessing the above average volume of care provided by aids and other staff at this nursing home, we also were happy with the facility's vaccination data. By way of example, this facility provided the pneumonia vaccine to 99.63636 percent of its residents, which is an impressive total. This combination proved to be effective as this place keeps its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 1.48 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days.

Turning to the next category, this facility received a respectable nursing rating. Even though this was not quite as dominant as some of its other category grades, this is really not a major area of concern. When determining a nursing home's nursing grade, we consider the amount of time nurses are with residents as well as the level of skill of those nurses. This nursing home offers extremely high levels of nursing care, averaging 4.5 hours per resident per day. This is well above average. Lastly, our nursing ratings also weigh quality-based metrics, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed better than average in this metric. This is usually an accurate indicator of how carefully a facility's nursing staff is tending to its patients. Major falls can frequently be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
