Facility Inspections
While we gave this place a poor overall grade, we awarded it a B+ for our inspections category. This was due to the nursing home receiving a quality inspection report this year. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing these inspection scores. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be relatively insignificant. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even with this deficiency, this place still received a relatively positive inspection report.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility's second highest score is long-term care, but it still earned a grade of just D in that area. This is still a well below average grade. For prospective patients in need of a permanent residence as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care is an important category. One of the factors we considered after nurse's aid hours was vaccinations. Thankfully, this nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccination to 99.354836 percent of its patients. Surprisingly, this place was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had just 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.

Nurse Quality
We also wanted to point out that this nursing home received an F for its nursing grade. We looked at the levels of nurses at the facility, in addition to the quantity of time the nurses were with residents, in determining our grade in this area. This place averaged only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing ratings. This nursing home performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.
Short-term Care Quality
The next category we looked at was short-term care. We gave it an F in this category, which is a bottom of the barrel score. With our short-term care assessment, we try to forge a meaningful barometer for rehabilitation. In doing so, we assess a facility's levels of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. The last datapoint we looked at in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 2.9 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these subpar metrics doomed this nursing home's short-term care grade.
