Despite not having a ton of nursing homes, this city's nursing homes received a very good city grade of B+. This is a well above average grade with most cities receiving a B or lower. We were also pleased to find that this city didn't have any poor grades in any of the four major categories. More information about these categories can be found in the next paragraph.
In addition to having quality nursing homes on the whole, this place really excelled in the area of inspections, where we gave it a grade of A-. Very few cities fared this well in this category. Arguably the most important factor we consider in computing our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a facility's inspection reports. Places with higher scores in this area typically dodged the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. State College also received an impressive nursing score where it earned a B+ in this category. Rounding out its report card, the city received a B for its short-term care grade and a B in the area of long-term care. We found State College to be very competent in every category.
