Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

One of the reasons this place ended up being a great nursing home is it received an A+ inspection grade. This is as good as it gets in this area. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating these inspection scores. One key factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies end up being quite insignificant. This facility was assessed 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered severe. This tells you that CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies to be an imminent risk to resident health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-plus

In addition, this facility received high marks in the area of nursing. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that category with a score of A+. Our nursing rating weighs a number of datapoints. The most important variable is the quantity of hours nurses spent with patients. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as by having a system of moving a patient more frequently.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

We also awarded this facility a grade of of A+ for its long-term care grade. Long-term care ratings in this range generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. After assessing the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is much higher than the majority of nursing homes. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Switching gears to our last area, this facility also performed admirably in our short-term care category. We gave it a B+ for this area. This wrapped up a very strong report card. In our short-term care score, we seek to forge a valuable gauge for rehabilitation. In this process, we analyze the nursing home's offerings of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final metric we looked at in this area is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We found that 3.7 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
