There are only 2 nursing homes in Horseheads, New York, providing for a population of 20,453 people. These nursing homes earned on average an overall grade of C. This isn't a terrible score, but it is not as high of a score as we like to see either. This grade unfortunately is on the wrong side of the national average. The best part of this city's profile was its nursing homes' exemplary inspection scores. Inspection grades are discussed in the next section.
This city received a fairly ordinary overall grade, however, we really want to point out that some of the nursing homes in the city nearly perfect health inspections in recent years. We gave it an impressive grade of A+ in this area. Arguably the most important factor we look at in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher grades in this area most likely dodged the most severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. The city also received one of our better scores in the area of long-term care, with a grade of B. In our final two categories, this place received rock bottom grades for our short-term care and nursing areas respectively.
