In addition to receiving a strong overall rating, this nursing home performed well in our inspections category, which is based on the facility's inspection reports. In fact, we awarded it an A for this category. Inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

To complement its strong performance in other areas, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. Our nursing grade is largely based on a facility's nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as by employing a system of moving a resident even once per day.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Turning to another strength for this nursing home, we awarded them one of our better scores in our short-term care category as well, with a B+. Short-term care scores are meaningful for individuals in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically mandates additional highly-skilled nursing services. This means a wide range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, according to the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of patients who returned home from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

In the final category we rated, this facility received a very favorable grade of B+ in our long-term care category. With this grade, the nursing home completed a very impressive profile. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. Once we finished looking at the quantity of nursing care, we then looked at the facility's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 87.066246 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Although its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we hoped for, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
