There are two nursing homes in Monterey, California, so at least you have a few options. While it only has a couple of nursing homes, this city's nursing homes received an excellent city grade of B+. We also looked at the nursing homes in the nearby city of Santa Cruz, which received an impressive city grade in its own right. However, we found the facilities in Monterey to be rated even higher than the ones in Santa Cruz. On top of this, Monterey is also one of the 500 best cities in the United States.
In addition to performing well in its overall grade, this city performed extremely well in the category of inspections. In fact, some of its facilities received nearly flawless inspection reports this year. Consequently, we awarded Monterey one of our highest ratings in that category with an A. Inspection ratings are tied to several pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that score well in this area have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. Monterey also performed spectacularly well in the area of nursing, where it earned an A- for that category. Wrapping up its impressive profile, Monterey earned a B for its short-term care rating and a B in the area of long-term care. We truly found Monterey to be very strong in every category.
