Facility Inspections

Grade: A

To pair with its relatively modest overall score, we awarded this nursing home an A for its inspection grade. This is far better than its overall score. Inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Although this facility had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. Remember that deficiency-free inspection reports are rare in the industry.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility earned an impressive grade of B in our nursing category. Our nursing grade is primarily tied to the facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can many times be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

In addition, we also wanted to draw your attention to the fact that this facility was awarded strong long-term care marks in this assessment. We awarded them one of our better grades in that category, with a B. When nursing homes receive this type of score in long-term care it is a good sign for resident care and indicates that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses aids. Once we concluded our assessment of the volume of nursing care, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 95.14563 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is what we like to see. Pneumonia is often a life or death health condition for nursing home patients so we prefer when a facility does not roll the dice on this issue. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

Moving on to our final category, this facility did not fare well. Due to a rock bottom grade of F in short-term care, this was its weakest area. Short-term care grades are based in part on the facility's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This includes a vast range of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, in addition to other types of therapy. We found that this facility was subpar in terms of its quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its patients based on the data we considered. The last statistic we looked at in this area is the percentage of residents that ultimately were able to return home from the facility. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 4.4 percent of its residents returning home.
