Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

To pair with its relatively modest overall grade, we awarded this nursing home an A- for our inspections rating. This grade is far more impressive than its overall grade. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining these inspection grades. One of those factors is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these are relatively minor. This facility was assessed 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This tells you that the inspectors didn't deem any of these deficiencies to create an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Remember that deficiency-free inspections are rare in the industry.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

One of the other reasons we graded this nursing home so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing grade. Nursing proved to be its second best category grade. In that area, we awarded this facility an B. Nursing grades are tied to quality and quantity of nursing care. This particular nursing home provided 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed certain nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. These include minimizing residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We look at these datapoints as good measures of the quality of nursing care provided, since better care tends to reduce these problems.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

This nursing home also received an impressive score in our short-term care category. We gave this nursing home a better than average grade of B in that category. With our short-term care assessment, we endeavor to craft a meaningful gauge for rehabilitation. In this process, we look at a facility's level of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Unfortunately, it does not appear that this nursing home provided information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. The last item we looked at in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The final area we scored was long-term care, which was this nursing home's worst category. It received a lowly F in this area, which is clearly very disappointing. Nursing homes that receive this kind of score in long-term care may not provide the kind of consistent 24/7 care that some other facilities provide. In addition to assessing the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Frankly, we were a bit concerned this facility provided the vaccine to a relatively low 72.72727 percent of its residents. Surprisingly, this nursing home was not as bad as we expected at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Although it had 3.64 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, its risk adjusted score wasn't bad since it had more complicated patients.
