Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to being a great overall grade, this facility also received A+ health inspections in recent years. Its inspections were virtually flawless. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining our inspection grades. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is usually more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are relatively minor. Fortunately, although this place had a few minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G through L. This tells you that the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. We should point out that deficiency-free inspections are uncommon in the industry.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

One of the other reasons we rated this nursing home so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing score. Nursing turned out to be its second best category grade. In that area, we gave this nursing home a grade of B+. Nursing scores are based largely on nurse staffing levels. This nursing home provides 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at certain nursing quality measures in computing our nursing grades. These include minimizing residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We look at these metrics as predictive measures of the caliber of nursing care offered, since better care tends to reduce these problems.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This facility received an impressive short-term care grade as well. We awarded it one of our better grades in that area with a grade of B+. Our short-term care ratings are meaningful for individuals looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally utilizes more highly-skilled nursing services. This includes a broad range of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other types of therapy. We were not able to track down information about this nursing home's registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. The final datapoint we assessed in this area is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We found that it was above average in this metric with 54.5 percent of its patients returning home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Switching gears to our fourth area, this nursing home was given an extremely favorable long-term care rating. This facility didn't end up having any weaknesses. Nursing homes that excel in this category typically provide patients with better supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. Once we assessed the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 97.47634 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is far higher than the average nursing home. The last datapoint we looked at is the facility's hospitalization rate. Here we found that this nursing home had 3.34 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Although this wasn't as strong as some of its other scores in this area, this statistic can be skewed for some facilities based on the medical complexity of patients.
