Short-term Care Quality
This facility really excelled in the area of short-term care, where it received a grade of A-. Few facilities performed better in this area. If it wasn't for this grade, this nursing home's overall score would have been much worse. Short-term care scores are important for prospective residents looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually requires additional highly-skilled nursing services. This includes a broad range of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the percentage of patients that ultimately returned home from this nursing home. We found that 5.6 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
Nurse Quality
This nursing home also received a strong nursing grade. In fact, we awarded it a grade of B in that category, which is one of our better scores. Our nursing score is mostly tied to the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as by having a protocol of moving a patient at least once a day.

Facility Inspections
This nursing home earned a good score in the area of inspections as well. In fact, we awarded it a B- for that category, which is one of our better scores. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing these inspection scores. One of those factors is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some of these end up being quite minor. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.
Long-term Care Quality
The final area we looked at was long-term care, which ended up being this nursing home's worst category. We awarded this facility a grade of D in this category. Sadly, this score hurt the nursing home's overall profile to some degree. Facilities that receive this kind of score in this category may not provide the kind of consistent 24/7 care that some other nursing homes provide. On top of assessing the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 81.818184 percent of its residents. This is several points below average. To our surprise, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This was its best feature in this category.
