Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of being a first rate facility overall, this facility performed well in our inspections category, where it received an A+. Very few places fared as well in this area. These inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Unfortunately, it does not appear that we were able to find deficiency data for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Among its many dominant grades, this facility received first-rate short-term care grade. In fact, we gave it a score of A- in that category. Our short-term care ratings are believed to be most meaningful for people in need of rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation usually mandates higher levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes not just nursing, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final measure we assessed in this area is the number of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We found that 5.7 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Turning to another strength for this facility, we gave them one of our more positive scores in our long-term care category as well, with a grade of B+. In a long-term care environment, the nursing home's primary goal is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. One of the criteria we considered after nursing hours was vaccinations. This nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccination to 71.147545 percent of its patients. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

The next category we graded was nursing. In this area, we gave this facility an impressive grade of B. Nursing scores are tied to nurse staffing levels. This nursing home averages 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also factored a few quality-based metrics into our nursing grades. This nursing home was relatively weak in two of the major areas we focus on, with below average scores for minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. These areas are generally reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care provided.
