Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of being a first rate facility overall, this facility performed well in our inspections category, where it received an A+. Very few places fared as well in this area. These inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Unfortunately, it does not appear that we were able to find deficiency data for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Among its many dominant grades, this facility received first-rate long-term care grade. In fact, we gave it a score of A- in that category. Facilities that receive this type of grade in long-term care tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to ensure patients are kept in good health. In addition to looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 91.33333 percent of its residents. This is a bit less than we anticipated but still a decent figure. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Turning our third area, we gave this nursing home a score of A- for our short-term care rating. This is a first-rate grade. Our short-term care scores are vital for patients looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually utilizes higher levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes a wide spectrum of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final statistic we looked at in this area is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We found that 5.7 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

The last category we rated was nursing, where this nursing home was given a B. Believe it or not, this was this nursing home's least impressive category. A nursing home could be doing a lot worse when their worst score still is better than most nursing homes. Nursing ratings are tied to nurse staffing levels. This particular nursing home provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the country in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as having a system of turning a resident more frequently.
