Skilled nursing includes a wide spectrum of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. We found that 5.7 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
The last category we rated was nursing, where this nursing home was given a B. Believe it or not, this was this nursing home's least impressive category. A nursing home could be doing a lot worse when their worst score still is better than most nursing homes. Nursing ratings are tied to nurse staffing levels. This particular nursing home provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the country in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as having a system of turning a resident more frequently.
