Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable nursing grade this year. We gave it a grade of C in that category. Nursing ratings are tied to nurse staffing levels. This nursing home averages just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Finally, our nursing scores also factor in quality-based measures, such as avoiding major falls. Despite not having the highest total nursing hours, this nursing home performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is generally a good indicator that a nursing home has quality controls in place. Some falls can be avoided if a facility provides enough nurses aids to assist its residents.
Short-term Care Quality
Sadly, this facility only received a grade of D for its short-term care rating, which happens to be one of its more favorable category scores. Our short-term care ratings are believed to be most important for folks requiring a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually utilizes more skilled nursing. This includes not just nursing, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Considering its weak rating in this category, we weren't stunned to learn that this nursing home offers far fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other facilities. Finally, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This definitely was not a strength for this facility. We found that just 3.7 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most nursing homes, about half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.

Long-term Care Quality
Unfortunately, this facility's next highest score is long-term care. However, with a D in this area, it still performed relatively badly. Nursing homes that do not fare well in long-term care often do not provide as much nursing care and also may be lagging in a few of the areas of routine personal care we looked at. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Candidly, we were a bit alarmed this nursing home vaccinated only 79.411766 percent of its patients. To our surprise, this nursing home was actually decent at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This was its best feature in this category.
Facility Inspections
In the final category of inspections, this nursing home had an abysmal showing. Sadly, it received an F in our inspection rating. This happens to be the most heavily weighted category in our grading system. We would advise paying special attention to any deficiencies on a facility's inspection reports when it receives this bad of an inspection score. We suggest you pay close attention to the level of severity of the deficiencies. This facility was assessed one category G through L deficiency, which are among the more serious deficiencies. These categories indicate that the deficiencies uncovered by the government inspectors had potential to cause actual harm to residents. Lastly, we also want to draw your attention to the fact that this place received large government fines recently amounting to over $100,000. This often means that a nursing home's poor performance has been an issue for multiple years.
