Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

While we didn't give this place a good overall score, we actually gave it a relatively strong grade in the category of inspections, where it earned a B+. Our inspection grades are tied to items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important thing to look for on these inspections. You should especially avoid facilities that have severe deficiencies linked to risks to resident well being. Although this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its report, none of them were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. A couple minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

Unfortunately, this facility only received a grade of D for its nursing grade, which was actually one of its better category grades. Our nursing grade is primarily based on a facility's nurse staffing. This place provided only 2.7 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is an alarmingly low total. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing ratings. This facility fared well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these statistics to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

We awarded this nursing home a grade of just D for our long-term care grade. This is not one of our better scores. When nursing homes receive this type of score in long-term care it is typically a bad sign for resident care and it may mean that the facility is not as well-staffed. In addition to assessing the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 92.68292 percent of its patients. This is a bit below what we anticipated but still a respectable percentage. Surprisingly, this facility was actually decent at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.96 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This is its best score in this category.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

The last category we rated was short-term care, is this facility's least impressive area. We gave this nursing home a grade of D in this area. In the area of short-term care, we endeavor to assess indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. With a grade this poor for this category, we were not shocked to find this place was below average in two of the key staffing figures we focus on. In fact, it offered substantially fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We were surprised to find that it performed better in this area, with 50.6 percent of its residents returning home. This was just about this nursing home's sole highlight in this category.
