Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

One of the reasons this ended up being a quality nursing home is it earned an A+ inspection grade. This is as good as it gets in this critical area. Inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Although this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

To complement its strong performance in other areas, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. Nursing scores are based in large part on nurse staffing levels. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

The third area we assessed is long-term care. Contributing to its impressive resume, this facility also performed well in this area. In fact, we gave it a grade of of A- in that category. Facilities that receive this type of grade in this category tend to provide consistent around the clock care to make sure patients are kept in good health. After assessing the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Vaccines are critical to keeping patients healthy. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Moving on to our next area, this facility was given an extremely favorable short-term care rating. In fact, we awarded it a B+ in that category, finishing off one of our more impressive report cards. Our short-term care grade is commonly employed to gauge a nursing home's rehabilitation services. To have highly graded rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to have better levels of highly skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly trained professionals. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the number of residents who returned home from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents were able to return home.
