Facility Inspections
In addition to being a great nursing home overall, it also earned A+ health inspections recently. Its inspections are nearly perfect. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating these inspection grades. One critical factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some are relatively insignificant. Although this place had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
Adding to its impressive resume, this nursing home also excelled in our long-term care category. In fact, we gave it a grade of A in that area. When facilities receive a grade in this range in this category it generally means it has plenty of staff and is an overall good place to reside on a permanent basis. After considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is far higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality
Adding to its strong resume, this facility also received an excellent nursing score, with a grade of A. Our nursing score assesses the facility's level of nurse staffing. We weigh both the levels of licensure of the nurses and the amount of time spent with patients. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
Short-term Care Quality
The final area we graded was short-term care, where this facility received a B. While this wound up being its poorest category rating, this is nevertheless an impressive rating. With our short-term care grade, we attempt to forge a sound gauge for rehabilitation services. In this process, we look at the nursing home's levels of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we considered the number of patients that were able to return home from this facility. We found that 3.5 percent of this nursing home's residents were able to return home.
