Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of receiving an elite overall rating, this facility also earned an A+ inspection grade. This is based on the facility's recent inspection reports. An A+ in this category is one of the best complements we can pay to a facility. Inspection ratings account for a host of factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with higher scores in this category usually have few severe deficiencies. We weren't able to find deficiency data for this facility. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

This nursing home also was awarded an A+ long-term care grade, making it one of the few facilities to be given multiple A+ category grades. When nursing homes receive a grade in this range in this category it typically means it's well-staffed and is an overall good place to live on a permanent basis. One of the datapoints we considered in addition to nursing hours is vaccinations. This facility provided the pneumonia vaccine to 100 percent of its patients. This is a proven method to avoid negative health outcomes for the senior population. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

The third category we assessed is short-term care. This nursing home excelled in our short-term care category also. We gave them an exemplary grade of A+ in this area. Our short-term care grade is commonly employed to assess a nursing home's rehabilitation services In order to have quality rehabilitation services, facilities generally must provide higher levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we looked at the percentage of patients that ultimately returned home from this facility. We found that 6.7 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

The last area we looked at is nursing, where this nursing home received a grade of A. This rounded out a very strong profile. Few nursing homes earned an A- or higher in in each area we assessed. Our nursing rating focuses on the facility's nurse staffing levels. We consider both the levels of licensure of those nurses as well as the amount of time spent with patients. This facility provided 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed better than average in this area. This is often a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can generally be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
