Even though we did not rate this nursing home favorably overall, we want to point out its relatively favorable long-term care score this year. We gave it a respectable grade of B in this area. When facilities receive this kind of score in long-term care it is usually a good sign for patient care and suggests that the place is well-staffed with nurses and aids. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 96.07843 percent of its residents, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia is too frequently a dangerous ailment for nursing home residents so we like it when a nursing home does not leave its residents vulnerable. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

We awarded this facility a respectable grade in the area of nursing as well, with a grade of C. Nursing ratings are based largely on quantity of nursing care available. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Lastly, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours per resident, this nursing home performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is typically an indicator that a place has sufficient quality controls in place.

As it turns out, this nursing home only received a grade of D for its short-term care rating, which is not an impressive grade. With our short-term care rating, we endeavor to craft a meaningful gauge for rehabilitation. In doing so, we analyze the nursing home's level of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. With a score in this range for this category, we were not shocked to discover this facility was well below average in multiple staffing areas we focus on. It provided significantly fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other facilities. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. This definitely wasn't a strength for this facility. We found that just 4.1 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most facilities, about half of their patients are able to return home so this is well below average.

The last category we assessed is inspections. This facility didn't receive glowing inspection reports in recent years. As a result, we had to give it an F. When a facility has this bad of an inspection score, you should look for severe deficiencies on its inspection report. Severe deficiencies indicate a threat to patient safety. This nursing home had one deficiency on its inspection report. Fortunately, it was not in one of the categories that suggest that it created a risk to resident safety or health. Finally, this facility also received a substantiated complaint in the last few years. There seem to be no shortage of reasons to pass on this facility.
