Facility Inspections
To go along with a favorable overall grade, we gave this place an A+ for our inspections rating. Arguably the most significant factor we consider in calculating our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Places with better scores in this area typically avoided the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home also was given an A+ for its long-term care score. When facilities receive a score in this range in this category it typically means it has plenty of staff and is a quality place to live on a permanent basis. In addition to assessing the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 96.031746 percent of its residents, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia is too frequently a dangerous illness for nursing home residents so we strongly prefer when a facility doesn't roll the dice on this issue. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality
The third most favorable category we awarded this nursing home in any area came in the area of short-term care, where we awarded it a B-. With our short-term care category, we endeavor to craft a fair gauge for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we analyze the facility's levels of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. It doesn't appear that this facility submitted data regarding its registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of patients who ultimately returned home from this nursing home. We found that 5.4 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was actually well below the national average.
Nurse Quality
This nursing home's worst category is nursing, which is the final category we looked at. In this area, we gave this facility a D. We would like to to draw your attention to this possible weak spot, however, you should not dwell on one bad area either. The nursing category includes several subcategories, most of which are tied to nursing hours. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. While this nursing home's nursing hours are below average, it actually surprised us in some of the qualitative data points in this category. In particular, we were pleased to see that its residents are sustaining fewer pressure ulcers than most nursing homes.
