Facility Inspections
In addition to being a respectable nursing home overall, this place also excelled in the area of inspections, where it received a grade of A. Few nursing homes performed better in this category. Perhaps the most significant factor we look at in computing our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. Facilities with better scores in this category typically dodged the more severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. While this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its report, none of them were severe based on CMS' scale. We should point out that deficiency-free inspections are rare in the industry.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home's second best area is long-term care. We gave it a B- in this category. This is essentially a middle of the road score in this area. In crafting these long-term care scores, we analyze the nursing home's personal care services. After considering the quantity of care provided by nurses, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination records. We were pleased to find that this facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Finally, this place was also able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality
The next category we assessed is short-term care. In that category, we awarded this facility a solid grade of B-. In crafting our short-term care grades, we analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The objective is to formulate a tool for comparing the rehabilitation services of nursing homes. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of patients who who were able to eventually return home from this nursing home. We found that 4.3 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was actually quite a bit below average.
Nurse Quality
The last category we scored was nursing. In that category, we awarded this nursing home a B-. Our nursing rating focuses on the facility's nurse staffing levels. We weigh both the levels of training of the nurses as well as the number of hours spent with patients. This particular facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This figure is significantly below average. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics. While this nursing home got docked a bit for nursing hours per resident, it actually excelled in some of these quality-based measures. With less than five percent of its patients experiencing pressure ulcers, it did very well in this statistic. This is often a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as having a system of moving a patient more often.
