Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

In addition to earning a great overall grade, this nursing home also received an excellent short-term care score, with an A. In the area of short-term care, we attempt to evaluate indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We look at a nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and various therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last statistic we assessed in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We found that 5.6 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

Adding to this nursing home's impressive resume, we gave this nursing home an A- for inspections. Inspection grades weigh several factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One key criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Places with higher scores in this area typically have very few of these severe deficiencies. While this place had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. Remember that deficiency-free inspection reports are uncommon in the industry.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

This facility also excelled in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of A-. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. Our nursing grade is based on the facility's level of nurse staffing. We consider both the levels of skill of those nurses and the number of hours spent with residents. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Switching gears to our final category, this nursing home was awarded a high-end long-term care grade. Although this was not quite as impressive as many of its other grades, this is still one of the more impressive scores we offer. Facilities that excel in this category typically provide patients with better supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. On top of considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 97.23757 percent of its patients, which is much higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
