Facility Inspections
Although we did not rate this nursing home favorably overall, we want to point out its relatively solid inspections in recent years. We gave it a respectable grade of B in this area, which is much better than its overall grade. Our inspection scores weigh a host of factors included in a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. You generally want to avoid nursing homes with a list of deficiencies flagged. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Despite this deficiency, this nursing home still received a relatively positive inspection report.
Short-term Care Quality
Another one of this nursing home's better category scores came in the area of short-term care. In that category, we gave this nursing home a B. Our short-term care grade is generally employed to measure a facility's rehabilitation services. To offer high-end rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to feature better levels of highly skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last datapoint we assessed in this area is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return home. We found that 5.8 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.

Nurse Quality
Unfortunately, we gave this facility an F for its nursing grade. Our nursing grade is based on the facility's nurse staffing levels. We consider both the levels of licensure of those nurses as well as the number of hours spent with residents. This facility provided a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is an alarmingly low total. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place fared well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these statistics to be indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
Switching gears to the next area, this nursing home did not fare well here either. With a rock bottom grade of F in long-term care, this is just about as as uninspiring as it gets. Facilities that receive this type of score in long-term care may not provide the type of consistent around the clock care that some other nursing homes provide. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 93 percent of its patients, which is slightly less than we were hoping for. Surprisingly, this place was actually decent at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This was its best score in this category.
