Facility Inspections
In addition to receiving a strong overall grade, this nursing home performed even better in the area of inspections which is based on the facility's recent government inspection reports. In fact, we awarded it an A for that category, which is one of our highest grades. Arguably the most important factor we look at in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Facilities with higher scores in this category most likely dodged the most severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility also received a strong long-term care grade. In fact, we awarded it an above average score of B+ in this category. When nursing homes receive this type of grade in this category it is a good sign for resident care and indicates that the place is well-staffed with nurses aids. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 99.22279 percent of its patients. Vaccines are critical to keeping patients out of the hospital. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality
The next area we analyzed is short-term care. This facility received an above average short-term care score, with a grade of B in the category. In computing these short-term care grades, we assess the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The objective is to formulate a tool for comparing the rehabilitation services of nursing homes. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of patients who were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 5.6 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
Nurse Quality
Moving on to the final area, this facility received an acceptable nursing grade of C. In calculating our nursing scores, we assess both nursing hours and the levels of licensure of the nurses. This facility provides only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This is a somewhat alarming figure which is well below average. Finally, nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. Despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours, this place actually performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is generally a reliable indicator that a place has quality controls in place. Many falls could be avoided if a nursing home provides enough nurses aids to assist its residents.
