Nurse Quality
On top of being a first rate facility overall, this facility also excelled in the area of nursing, where it received an A+. Few nursing homes fared better in this category. The nursing grade assesses many factors, however, the primary consideration is the quantity of nurse hours per patient per week. This particular facility provided 8.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This was one of the more impressive totals we found. In addition, a significant percentage of this care was provided by registered nurses, which are highly skilled nurses. These are both really impressive figures. In addition to offering impressive levels of care, this place was also above average in several of the major quality-based metrics we assessed in this category. For example, it performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. These areas are generally good indicators of the quality of nursing care a facility offers.
Short-term Care Quality
This facility also received an A+ for its short-term care grade. Short-term care grades are based in part on the facility's quantity of highly-skilled nursing services. This includes a vast spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. This place is the gold standard in terms of skilled nursing staffing. The facility provided approximately 1.5 times as many registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than the typical facility. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of patients who were able to return home from this nursing home. On top of excelling in the area of physical therapy, we found that it fared as well as just about any facility in the nation with 78 percent of its residents returning home.
Facility Inspections
Continuing with its first-class performance, this facility also received an A+ inspection score. This grade is based on its recent inspection reports. Our inspection ratings are tied to several items located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that excel in this category tend to have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. This facility was hit with 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered severe. This means that the inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies to create an immediate threat to resident health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
The final area we analyzed was long-term care. We gave it another first-rate score of A+ in this area. This rounded out a spectacular report card of straight A+'s. In a long-term care setting, the primary goal is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. Although we determined this nursing home has an above average amount of nursing hours provided by aids and other nursing staff, we found its vaccine statistics to be somewhat lower than we expected. This facility gave the pneumonia vaccine to just 90.10989 percent of its residents. This is one statistic we would really like to see this nursing home bring up. This facility also keeps its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 1.41 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days.
