Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

This nursing home really excelled in the category of short-term care, with an A+ in this category. This really boosted its overall score. Our short-term care grades are arguably most meaningful for people needing a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually utilizes additional highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means not just nursing, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final measure we considered in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that 6.8 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

We also wanted to point out that this nursing home received a great nursing grade. In fact, it received one of our highest grades in that category with a score of A+. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can generally be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

We also gave this nursing home a middle of the pack grade in the category of long-term care, where it received a B-. For long-term care residents, the facility's primary goal is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. Once we looked at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination record. We were pleased to find that this nursing home vaccinated 99.20949 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Finally, this nursing home was also able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
