Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This facility really excelled at short-term care, with an impressive grade of A- in this area. This really propped up its overall score. Our short-term care ratings are arguably most meaningful for people in need of rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation usually utilizes higher levels of highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means not just nursing, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Unfortunately, we were not able to track down information about this nursing home's registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. The last item we looked at in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We found that 5.7 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing score. Nursing proved to be its second best category grade. In that area, we awarded this nursing home an B+. Our nursing score is based on quite a few datapoints, many of which are tied to quantities of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as by employing a policy of turning residents more frequently.

Facility Inspections

Grade: C

This facility received somewhat favorable health inspections in recent years. We awarded them a decent score in that area, with a grade of C. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining these inspection scores. One key factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be relatively insignificant. This nursing home had 3 deficiencies on its government inspection report, but fortunately none were in any of the categories labeled J through L. This means CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies to place patient safety or health in immediate harm or jeopardy. Unfortunately, we also need to draw your attention to the fact that this facility received significant government fines in recent years.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

The last category we scored is long-term care, which turned out to be this facility's weakest category. We gave this facility a grade of D in this category. Unfortunately, this score pulled down the facility's overall profile a bit. For residents looking for a permanent residence as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care is an important category. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Fortunately, this nursing home vaccinated 98.130844 percent of its residents, which is an above average percentage. To our surprise, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home has fewer hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. Sadly, a few of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
