With three nursing homes in the city, there are only a few options in Farmington, Maine. We awarded the nursing homes here an excellent city grade of A-. Even with just a few nursing homes, this is still a great achievement. In fact, Farmington is one of the top 500 cities in the United States. This is impressive given that we assessed thousands of cities around the country. This place's impressive report card was highlighted by its nursing homes' inspection ratings, which we will address in the next paragraph.
As mentioned above, this city's nursing homes received a strong overall grade, but we also wanted to emphasize that some of its facilities received nearly perfect health inspections in recent years. We gave Farmington an elite grade of A for this area. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining these inspection grades. One key factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these are quite insignificant. The city performed especially well in the area of short-term care as well. Consequently, the city received a grade of A- in that category. Wrapping up its excellent report card, Farmington received grades of A- and B for our nursing and long-term care areas respectively.
