Augusta, Maine offers only four nursing homes to choose from, which is not a ton of options. We awarded the nursing homes in this city a superb city grade of A-. Even with just a few facilities, this is still quite an achievement. We were so impressed with Augusta that we rated it as one of the fifteen highest rated cities in Maine. This city's impressive profile was highlighted by its nursing homes' inspection grades, which is addressed in the next paragraph.
To pair with its great overall grade, we awarded this city a grade of A for our inspections category. Our inspection scores are tied to several items located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that excel in this area typically have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these places generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. Augusta also performed extremely well in the area of nursing, where it earned an A for this area. Rounding out its report card, we gave Augusta grades of A- and B- for our short-term care and long-term care categories respectively. Outside of its long-term care score, this city's other three grades were just about as good as it gets.
