Aberdeen, South Dakota is an average size city with 30,061 people. The city features just 4 nursing homes, which does not give you too many options. While it only has a couple of nursing homes, this city received a top-notch city grade of A-. We were so impressed with this city that we ranked it as one of the top 500 cities in the nation. This is impressive given that we assessed thousands of cities around the country. The best aspect of this city's strong report card was its nursing homes' inspection ratings. In addition to performing well in its overall grade, many of the facilities in Aberdeen performed extremely well in the area of inspections. In fact, some of its facilities received almost flawless inspection reports this year. Consequently, it received one of our best grades in that category with an A. Our inspection grades account for a host of factors found on a facility's inspection report. One key criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. Places with higher grades in this category usually have few severe deficiencies. In addition, we also awarded this city an A- for our nursing category. Wrapping up its quality report card, we gave the city a B+ for its short-term care rating and a B+ in the area of long-term care. We really found this place to be competent in each category we assessed.
