Nurse Quality

Grade: C

Although we gave this nursing home a terrible overall score, we gave it a grade of C for our nursing rating. In determining a facility's nursing score, we consider the quantity of hours nurses are caring for residents and the level of skill of the nurses. This nursing home averages just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics. While this place got dinged a bit for its nursing hours, it actually excelled in some of these quality-based metrics. With fewer than five percent of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, it performed well in this subcategory. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can generally be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as having a policy of moving patients at least once a day.

Facility Inspections

Grade: D

Unfortunately, this nursing home didn't receive glowing inspections in recent years. We gave it just a D for our inspections rating and that actually proved to be its second best grade. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating these inspection ratings. One critical factor is health deficiencies. We would scrutinize the severity of those deficiencies. This facility was assessed 2 deficiencies by CMS. The only positive thing we found is that none of these deficiencies were in the categories that indicate that they created a threat to patient safety or health. Finally, we would like to point out that this place was assessed significant government fines in recent years amounting to over $100,000. This usually means that a nursing home'sbad track record has been an issue for multiple years.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The next area we looked at was short-term care. This nursing home's was given an unfortunate short-term care grade where it received a lowly F. Short-term care scores are based on the nursing home's quantity of skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a wide spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this place offers substantially less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than the average facility. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that just 3.9 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

Switching gears to the last area, this nursing home did not perform very well here either. With a rock bottom grade of F in long-term care, this is just about as terrible as it gets. For patients looking for a permanent residence rather than skilled nursing, long-term care grades are an important measure. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 99.34066 percent of its patients, which is more than most nursing homes. To our surprise, this nursing home also keeps its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
