Facility Inspections
While we were not very complementary of this facility's overall score, it received a very impressive inspection report this year. In fact, it received a nearly flawless inspection report this year. As a result, it earned one of our highest grades in that category with an A. Inspection ratings are based on many datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important item to look for on these inspections. Most importantly, you should avoid facilities with severe deficiencies linked to risks to resident well being. While this facility had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means that the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
We gave this nursing home a grade of just D for our short-term care rating and that actually wound up as its second best score. With our short-term care score, we seek to create a valuable gauge for rehabilitation. In doing so, we assess the nursing home's scope of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Given its abysmal score in this area, we weren't shocked to discover this place offers substantially fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most facilities. Finally, we considered the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that just 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality
Turning to the area of nursing care, this facility received a grade of just D in this category. Our nursing score includes quite a few components, however, the paramount consideration is the level of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home provides 0.2 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing scores. This place fared well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these metrics to be reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
The next area we analyzed was long-term care. This facility received a rock bottom grade of F in this area. Nursing homes that do not fare well in this category typically are not as well-staffed and are lagging in a few of the areas of routine personal care we looked at. Once we assessed the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination record. We were disappointed to learn that this facility vaccinated only 81.761 percent of its residents against pneumonia. To our surprise, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility has fewer hospitalizations than the average nursing home. This was its best feature in this category.
