Facility Inspections
To pair with a strong overall grade, we awarded this place a grade of A+ for our inspection category. Arguably the most important factor we look at in calculating our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Facilities with better scores in this area most likely dodged the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. Unfortunately, we weren't able to find information on deficiency's for this nursing home. We would like to have more data for this facility. Without all of the information regarding deficiencies, it is a challenge to grade it in terms of this category.
Short-term Care Quality
This top notch nursing home also performed well in the category of short-term care, where it received a score of A+. Only a small group of facilities performed better in this area. Our short-term care scores are considered to be most important for patients requiring a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually requires additional skilled nursing. This means not merely nursing, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final metric we looked at in this area is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the facility and return home. We found that 6.6 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality
Among its many impressive grades, this facility received an excellent nursing grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of A in that category. When computing our nursing ratings, we weigh both staffing levels and the levels of licensure of those nurses. This particular nursing home provided 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place Mississippi in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can generally be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as by employing a protocol of moving a resident at least once a day.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we rated is long-term care. We awarded this nursing home a solid grade in that area, with a grade of B-. While this was not as strong as many of this facility's other grades, it is still not a bad grade. In the category of long-term care, we weigh the amount of services provided by a nursing home, as opposed to more sophisticated services. After considering the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination record. We were disappointed to learn that this facility vaccinated only 80.95238 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Nevertheless, this facility keeps its residents out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
