Facility Inspections
While this nursing home's overall grade was not a highlight, it actually really excelled in the category of inspections. In fact, we awarded it an A- for that area, which is one of our highest scores. Arguably the most significant factor we look at in determining our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. It is typically best to avoid places that had a long list of severe deficiencies. Fortunately, although this facility had some minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you CMS didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility's second best area is long-term care. In that category, we gave this nursing home a grade of B-. In the area of long-term care, we focus on the amount of care offered by a nursing home, rather than more sophisticated services. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 99.63768 percent of its patients, which is better than the majority of nursing homes. Lastly, this nursing home was also able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality
We awarded this facility a respectable grade in the area of nursing as well, with a grade of C. The nursing grade includes quite a few factors, many of which are based on levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a low total compared with most nursing homes. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this facility fared better in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at. It performed well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
Short-term Care Quality
Switching gears to our fourth area, this nursing home really did not fare very well in this category either. With a poor grade of F in short-term care, this is really as as uninspiring as it gets. Our short-term care ratings are presumably more important for people in need of a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually utilizes higher levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means not merely nursing services, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other types of therapy. With a score this poor in this area, we were not surprised to find that this facility was below average in the two key staffing metrics we focus on. It supplied substantially fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most other nursing homes. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that just 3.9 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
