Facility Inspections

Grade: A

This nursing home received a quality overall score as described above, but we especially want to point out its excellent health inspections in recent years. We awarded them an A in this category. Perhaps the most significant factor we consider in determining our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher grades in this category typically dodged the more severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This facility really excelled in the category of short-term care, where we awarded it a score of A-. Not many facilities performed better in this category. Our short-term care grades are important for people looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically requires more skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes a broad spectrum of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final item we assessed in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We found that 5.9 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Turning to the next area, this facility also received a score of B+ for its long-term care rating. This is an above average grade in this category. When facilities receive this kind of score in long-term care it is usually a good sign for resident care and indicates that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses aids. On top of considering the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 96.62921 percent of its patients, which is very impressive. Pneumonia tragically can be a dangerous ailment for nursing home patients so we strongly prefer when a facility doesn't leave this to chance. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

The last category we rated was nursing, where this facility was awarded a C. This actually turned out to be this facility's least impressive area. This is still not the end of the world. The nursing rating includes many data points. The most important factor is the number of hours nurses spent with residents. This place provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is a low total compared with most other nursing homes. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this facility fared better in some of the quality measures we looked at. It performed well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.
