We didn't have any positive things to say about this nursing home's overall score or its category grades. However, with a grade of just D in this category, it still performed relatively badly. The nursing grade includes many factors. The most important one is the amount of time nurses spent with patients. This nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is below average. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing grades. This facility fared well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.

This nursing home did not receive favorable government inspection reports in recent years. In fact, it received a D for its inspection score, which was unfortunately its second best category. The only positive thing we can say is that none of its deficiencies were in the categories that suggest they created a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility also received 35 substantiated complaints in recent years. This is yet another bad sign.

Unfortunately, this facility's third highest score is long-term care. However, with a grade of D in this area, it still performed somewhat poorly. Nursing homes that don't fare well in long-term care typically are not as well-staffed and are lagging in some of the areas of routine medical care we assessed. On top of considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 90.13333 percent of its patients. This is multiple points below what we expected. Surprisingly, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.04 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. This was its best feature in this category.

Moving on to the final area, this nursing home really did not perform very well here either. Due to a rock bottom grade of F in short-term care, this is really as bad as it gets. Short-term care scores are based in part on the facility's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a broad scope of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Based on its score in this category, we were not stunned to find that this nursing home is well below average in terms of the number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours offered to its patients based on the data we looked at. Honestly, this was about what we expected here. The last measure we considered in this area is the percentage of patients who ultimately returned home from the nursing home. This facility struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 2.9 percent of its residents returning home. Unfortunately, this was quite a bit below average.
