Facility Inspections
Although we were not high on this facility overall, we awarded it a B- for our inspections rating. This grade is more respectable than this place's overall score. Inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these items by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Fortunately, although this facility had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G through L. This tells you CMS didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.
Long-term Care Quality
One of this nursing home's more favorable category grades was in the category of long-term care. This ended up being its second best category. In that category, we gave this facility a grade of B-. For long-term care residents, the primary objective is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. After assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination record. We were concerned by the fact that this facility vaccinated just 70.481926 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Nevertheless, this nursing home keeps its residents out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality
This nursing home actually received a decent grade in the area of nursing as well. We awarded it a grade of C for that category, which is not a bad score. The nursing score weighs several factors. The most heavily weighted variable is the quantity of hours nurses spend with residents. This nursing home averages just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place fared better in some of the quality-based metrics we assessed. In fact, it scored well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.
Short-term Care Quality
The final category we analyzed is short-term care, which proved to be a weak link for this nursing home. We gave this nursing home a grade of just D for the area of short-term care. In computing our short-term care grades, we assess a nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other highly trained professionals. This area is often a meaningful measure of the nursing home's rehabilitation. With a grade this poor in this area, we weren't shocked to discover this nursing home was below average in the two key staffing areas we looked at. The nursing home provided significantly fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. The last metric we considered in this category is the number of residents who returned home from the facility. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 0 percent of its patients returning home. Unfortunately, this was quite a bit below average.
