Facility Inspections
We want to point out that this nursing home outperformed its overall grade in the area of inspections. In fact, it received an excellent government inspection report this year. As a result, we gave it one of our best grades in this area with an A+. Inspection grades account for a host of factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One key criteria we weigh heavily is the number and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with better scores in this category generally have very few of these severe deficiencies. Although this facility had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
In addition, we gave this nursing home a grade of B+ in our long-term care category. This happens to be one of our more impressive grades. Facilities that excel in this category tend to be well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to patients. In addition to assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 94.64286 percent of its patients, which is what we like to see. Pneumonia sadly can be a deadly illness for nursing home patients so we strongly prefer when a facility doesn't take any chances. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home's third most favorable area is its short-term care grade, where it was awarded a grade of C. In the area of short-term care, we strive to evaluate indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We analyze a facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. Unfortunately, it does not appear that this nursing home submitted data regarding its registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. The final datapoint we looked at in this category is the percentage of patients who returned home from the facility. We found that just 4.8 percent of this facility's residents returned home.
Nurse Quality
The final area we rated is nursing, which is this facility's least impressive category. It received a lowly F for this area, which is clearly very disappointing. Nursing scores are based in large part on levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home offered only 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is well below average. To go along with its low totals in the area of nursing hours per patient, this place also did not fare as well in the quality-based measures we looked at in determining our nursing ratings. We looked at the percentage of residents sustaining pressure ulcers and major falls. This facility had more falls and pressure ulcers than the average facility.
