Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

We would like to point out that this nursing home's nursing score exceeded its overall score. This nursing home earned a B+ in this category, which is one of our better grades. We scrutinized the levels of nurses employed by the facility, in addition to the quantity of hours those nurses worked with residents, in calculating our rating in this area. This particular nursing home provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the country in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as by employing a policy of turning a patient at least once a day.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

In addition, this facility also excelled in the area of inspections, where it received a grade of B+. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. Perhaps the most important factor we look at in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. Nursing homes with better grades in this area typically avoided the more severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. While this facility had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Keep in mind that deficiency-free inspection reports are uncommon in this industry.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This facility received its third best category grade in the area of short-term care. We awarded this facility a grade of B- in this area, which is a respectable score. In the area of short-term care, we strive to evaluate indicators of a facility's rehabilitation. We analyze a nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. Unfortunately, we weren't able to find information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. The final datapoint we considered in this category is the number of patients that were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that just 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The final area we rated is long-term care, which was this nursing home's least impressive category. We gave it a lowly F for this area, which is clearly very disappointing. For residents in need of a permanent residence rather than rehabilitation, long-term care is a very important category. On top of considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Thankfully, this nursing home gave the vaccine to 97.34513 percent of its patients, which is a very respectable statistic. Surprisingly, this facility also fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had just 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Sadly, a few of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
