Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a somewhat respectable nursing grade this year. We gave it a C in that category. Nursing scores are heavily correlated with nurse staffing levels. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Lastly, nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as preventing major falls. Despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours, this place performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is often a good indicator that a place has quality controls in place. Some falls can be avoided if a facility provides enough nurses to assist its residents.
Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to the area of short-term care, this nursing home was awarded just a D in this area. Sadly, this proved to be its second best grade. In crafting our short-term care ratings, we quantify the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. Our objective is to devise a measure for comparing the rehabilitation services of various nursing homes. With a grade in this range for this category, we weren't shocked to learn that this nursing home was well below average in two of the key staffing figures we assess. In fact, it offered significantly fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most nursing homes. The last statistic we looked at in this category is the number of residents who who were able to eventually return home from the facility. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 4.5 percent of its patients returning home.

Facility Inspections
Sadly, this facility received a grade of just D in our inspection category. This is well below average grade. One of the more significant factors in assessing inspection reports is deficiencies. We would pay close attention to the severity of the deficiencies. This nursing home was assessed 11 deficiencies by CMS. The only positive thing we found is that none of its deficiencies were in the categories that suggest they created a risk to resident health or safety. Finally, we would like to point out that this nursing home was assessed significant government fines of more than $100,000. This usually suggests that a nursing home's bad track record spanned several years.
Long-term Care Quality
The final area we looked at was long-term care, in which this facility received an abysmal score in this area as well. Sadly, it received an abysmal F for this area, which is obviously a major disappointment. Facilities that don't score well in long-term care often don't provide as much nursing care and also may be struggling in some of the areas of routine personal care we looked at. Once we concluded our assessment of the quantity of nursing care, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination records. Frankly, we were a bit concerned this nursing home vaccinated a relatively low 70.53571 percent of its patients for pneumonia. To our surprise, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than the average nursing home. This was its best feature in this category.
